A clever crow raises water in a pot using pebbles, teaching a thirsty raven persistence

A Hot Summer Day

It was a hot and dry summer in a dense forest. The sun beat down relentlessly on everything it touched. All the animals, big and small, were struggling to find food and water. Among them was a clever crow who had been flying for hours in search of a drink. His throat was dry, and his wings were tired from the heat. He searched for any sign of water, but the forest's usual streams had dried up long ago.

As he soared above the trees, his sharp eyes spotted a small clay pot on the ground below. With renewed hope, the crow quickly flew down to investigate. When he landed beside the pot, he peered inside and saw that there was a small amount of water at the bottom, but it was far too low for him to reach. His beak couldn’t reach the liquid no matter how hard he tried.

 A Brilliant Idea

The crow was not one to give up easily. He looked around the area for any possible solution. Then, he noticed a collection of small pebbles scattered near the pot. His sharp mind quickly began to work. An idea struck him—what if he could raise the water level by dropping the pebbles into the pot?

With a burst of energy, the crow picked up the nearest pebble and dropped it into the pot. He waited and looked inside. The water level barely moved. Unfazed, he grabbed another pebble, and another, and another. Slowly but surely, the water level began to rise.

The crow worked tirelessly, picking up more pebbles and carefully dropping them into the pot. The process was slow, but the crow’s determination never wavered. Soon, after what seemed like hours, the water level was high enough for the crow to dip his beak into the pot and drink his fill. His thirst was finally quenched.

The Raven’s Arrival

Just as the crow was about to take off and continue his journey, a raven flew down and landed beside him. The raven had been watching from a distance and had seen the crow’s clever solution to the problem. He was impressed by the crow’s resourcefulness.

"How did you do that?" the raven asked. "I’ve never seen anything like it."

The crow puffed out his chest proudly. "It’s all about thinking outside the box," he said. "When there’s a problem, you don’t just give up. You find a way around it."

The raven nodded thoughtfully. "I’ll have to remember that the next time I get stuck."

The Lesson Learned

The crow, feeling satisfied with his success, flew off into the sky once more. He had not only solved his own problem but had also taught the raven an important lesson. The raven, meanwhile, stood beside the clay pot, thinking about what the crow had said. He realized that the crow's cleverness wasn’t just about his intelligence—it was about his determination and willingness to keep trying.

As the raven took off, he promised himself that he would face challenges with the same cleverness and persistence as the crow. And from that day forward, both the crow and the raven carried with them the important lesson: no matter how difficult the task, there is always a way if you are clever enough to find it.
